On a steep waterfront slope, the existing house was removed and the demolished materials plus purchased recycled timbers were used in the construction of the new home which stands on the original concrete slab.

Surrounded by bush a sophisticated bushfire defence system included the installation of large underground water storage tanks (including a blackwater recycling system), a sprinkler network and the use of fire-resistant hardwood joinery.
